Tangguh unaffected by earthquake: BPMIGAS

The Tangguh LNG facility in Papua was unaffected by a 6.6 magnitude earthquake that struck Papua on Thursday, Elan Subiantoro, spokesperson of the country?s upstream oil and gas regulatory BPMIGAS told Petromindo.com

According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake struck at a depth of 21.2 kilometers near the south coast of Papua. At 2:11am a second earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 hit the same region. This struck at a depth of 12.3 kilometers.

The first earthquake was originally reported to have a magnitude of 7.0, but that was downgraded to a 6.6.

It struck 105 km from Dobo, Kepulauan Aru and 2,985 km from Jakarta. (godang)
