Kalimantan coal mining group Tanito Group said on Thursday it would increase 2009 coal production from its mines to 8 million tonnes from 7 million tonnes last year.

Director Hiu Kirtiadi said that the target would be achieved if supported by favorable weather condition.

Kirtiadi said the group exported 95 percent of its coal output to countries such as South Korea, Taiwan and Japan.

Tanito main mine is PT.Mahakam Sumber Jaya (MSJ) which mines for coal in East Kalimantan. MSJ plans to produce 5 million tonnes in 2009 from 3.5 million tonnes last year.

Tanito sold its producing coal mine PT.Riau Bara Harum in Riau province last year to Spinnaker Capital Group. (denny)
