Tanjung Jati A power plant to be re-negotiated

A consortium of investors led by the Bakrie Group has expressed its readiness to materialize the construction of the 2 X 660 MW Tanjung Jati A power plant in Jepara, Central Java, if only state electricity firm PT PLN and the consortium reach an agreement on the new tariffs after planned re-negotiation.
The Bakrie Group chairman Aburizal Bakrie said his consortium was ready to resume the project any time. He also noted that his project offers a competitive electricity tariffs for PLN, compared with those offered by other independent power producers.
"We remain committed to (continue) the project, and there is no problem for us. Just wait the results of the re-negotiation," he said.
He added that his party continued its Efforts for re-negotiation although there were changes in PLN chairmanship.
The consortium of the Tanjung Jati A project include PT Bakrie Power Corporation, National Power, Tomen Power and PT Maharani Paramitra. They had offered to cut the value of the 2 X 660 MW project from $1.66 billion to $1.050 billion.
It offers an electricity tariff of $0.019 per kWh to PLN, compared to $0.023 per kWh as offered by Tanjung Jati B project (2 X 660 MW), with project value of $1.1 billion. (*)
