Coal stock Tanjung Jati B 2x660-MW power plant in Jepara, Central Java improves on Monday after a vessel managed to unload coal at the power plant?s port on Monday, a company official said.

General Manager Affianto Hapsoro said that on Monday morning MV Jawa Power has started to unload 45,000 tonnes of coal. ?Unloading is expected to be completed before midnight today,? he said. He added that on Tuesday, MV Urmilla which carries 65,000 tonnes of coal, will start unloading after Jawa Power.

Coal stock was critically low at 15,000 tonnes on Friday, he said. Normally coal stockpile is maintained to meet one month?s consumption of 300,000 tonnes.

Currently, Affianto said, the power plant?s unit 2 is already operating at full capacity. Unit 1 would be restarted soon, he said.

Tanjung Jati B suffered coal supply shortage due to high waves and storm that prevented vessels to unload coal since early March. Coal shortage forced Tanjung Jati B to sharply cut power production and had caused disruption in Java-Bali grid electricity supply.

In January this year, Tanjung Jati B has also suffered coal shortage due to high waves. (godang)
