PT.Pembangkitan Tanjung Jati B, a unit of state electricity firm which runs the 2x660-MW Tanjung B coal-fired power plant in Jepara, Central Java said on Friday that its re-tender process for low CV coal supply only drew two bidders.
Fuel Manager Chris Leo Manggala told Petromindo.Com that only Berau Coal and Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) submitted bidding in the tender to seek supplier of 1 million tonnes of coal for 2008 delivery.
He said that Tanjung Jati B has decided to continue the tender process despite the fact that normally it took at least three bidders to make a tender legal.
Manggala said that currently the company is evaluating the two bidders, admitting that coal prices the bidders offered were above Tanjung Jati?s benchmark price of equivalent of Rp.208 per kwh or 2.3 US cents per kwh.
?We will negotiate price with them, and hopefully would be able to name winner this month,? he said. (denny)
