Tanjung Jati B opens tender for bedding coal

State electricity firm PT. PLN on Wednesday opens bid to supply once-off basis 50,000 tons of bedding coal for Tanjung Jati B power plant stockyard.

The company?s advertisement says that Tanjung Jati is looking to procure coal with specification of 5,000 Kcal/Kg, total moisture of 18 percent, sulphur (ADB) 0.8 percent and HGI 50.

A PLN official said the coal is set for July 2005 delivery.

The 2x660 MW Tanjung Jati B power plant, which is located in Central Java, is scheduled to commence operations in 2006. The plant is expected to consume up to 4 million tons of coal annually.

Tanjung Jati B is owned by PT. Central Java Power (CJP), in which Japan trading house Sumitomo is controlling shareholder. CJP entered into a 20-year long-term lease with PLN, under which PLN will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the power plant during the lease period. (alex)
