PT Indonesia Power (IP), a wholly-owned subsidiary of state electricity firm PLN has started receiving gas from state gas distribution firm for its Tanjung Priok 1,350-MW combined cycle power plant in Jakarta on Monday.
The company said in a release that the power plant has started to receive 30BBTUD of gas from PGN?s pipeline network.
IP buys PGN?s gas under a three-year contract.
The company said gas usage will save 846 kiloliters of HSD per day, which will give cost saving of Rp.1.3 trillion (US$=Rp 9,700) per year.
Apart from PGN, Tanjung Priok also gets part of its gas requirement from Pertamina-operated ONWJ block in West Java.
The company said that despite new supply from PGN, it is still 220BBTUD short of gas to convert expensive fuel usage. (alex)
