The combined cycle power plant in Tarakan, East Kalimantan owned by state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara has received more gas supplies from Bunyu field in Sangatta block owned by PT Pertamina EP, the upstream arm of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina.
?As of Aug. 28, 2012, the gas supply (from Bunyu) had reached 4.8 mmscfd. We hope Petamina EP can increase the supply to more than 5 mmscfd to compensate for the declining supply from Medco (PT Medco Energi Internasional). The firm can now supply a mere 1 mmscfd compared to 6 mmscfd set in the contract expiring 2015,? Suryadi Mardjoeki, PLN?s Oil Fuel and Gas Division Head, said on Wednesday.
The current supply volume from Pertamina EP represents a significant increase compared to the supply rate in late July, which stood at 2 mmscfd.
Pertamina has signed contract with PLN to supply PLTGU Tarakan for 3.5 years.
