Task force set up to accelerate power plant development

The government has set up a task force to help accelerate the development of the planned 35,000 MW power plants in the country over the next five years, reports said on Monday.

Director General of Electricity Jarman was quoted by Kontan as saying that he would lead the task force, whose members also include officials from state-owned electricity company PT PLN, Police, Attorney General?s Office, the National Land Agency, Ministry of Forestry and Environmental Affairs, and the Ministry of Transportation.

Jarman said that the task force will act as a bridge for information flow among the related institutions and to recommend solutions to lingering obstacles in power sector development in the country. (*)
