Tavesco Killara to start coal production

PT Tavesco Killara Energi (TKE) plans to start commercial production from its coal mines in East and South Kalimantan provinces this year.

PT TKE is a joint-venture between PT Tavesco International and Australian-listed firm Killara Resources Limited. Each company equally owns PT TKE.

Tavesco is a unit of Tason Holdings, which is controlled by businessman and former Indonesian State Enterprises Minister Tanri Abeng.

CEO Tason Holdings Ridwan Zachrie said initial production will begin this August.

?We expect to produce 2 million tonnes of coal until the end of the year. We plan to sell the coal to state utility firm, PLN," Zachrie said as quoted by Investor Daily, adding that preparation works were already underway.

Tason Holdings also has a number of business in energy sector including PT Walinusa Energi which focuses on infrastructure for oil and gas projects, he said.

The company provides services such as operation and maintenance of gas pipeline for third party as well as gas trading and expertise for a number of related facilities.

Additionally, Walinusa has a permit for trading and importing crude oil and other oil products.

Killara has a number of mining concession including a manganese project in Belu, about 35 kilometer east of Atambua in East Nusa Tenggara. The project consists of 3 IUP licenses with a total combined area of 5.934 hectares (ha). The concessions are Sischo Artha, Mugirato, dan Asia Traco. (*)
