Team set up to end labor conflicts at PT BA's contractor

The regent of the Muaraenim regency, Sofyan Effendi, has formed a special team to end conflicts between former workers and the management of PT Sumber Mitra Jaya, the main contractor of state owned coal-mining company PT Bukit Asam.
The team, consisting of 15 members representing the company and its 341 former workers, would meet today to end the conflicts.
The regent said that the team should be able to find a fair and realistic solution if it wanted to solve the conflicts, which started several months ago after the company laid off its workers without proper compensation payment.
Sumber Mita is one of the coal mining company's main contractors in its coal exploration and production activities. The report, however, did not mention why the company had to dismiss its employees. (*)
