The Tebo regency in Jambi province has coal reserves 800 million tons (MT), only less then 1 percent of which has been exploited, a regency official said on Friday.

Zainuddin, the head of the regency's mines and energy office, was quoted by Jambi Online as saying that coal reserves in the regency are spread in eight districts, including Tebo Ulu, Tengah Ilir, Tebo Tengah, Sumay and Tujuh Koto Ilir

According to him, there are 38 coal mining firms that have got license to operate in the regency, but only three of them have been producing, that is PT Asia Multi Invesrama, PT WAL and PT Anugrah Alam Andalas

The regency would thus maximize efforts to increase coal exploitation to boost the regency?s revenue. In order to attract more investors, the regency will simplify terms and conditions to get mining license. (*)
