Technical problem at FSRU West Java gas pipeline

Gas pipeline that will link the West Java Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) at the Jakarta bay with onshore pipeline network was found leaking during recent hydro testing, a source familiar with the project told Petromindo.com said.

"The pipe has leaked. It may have been damaged by ship anchor," the source said.

The West Java FSRU is owned by PT Nusantara Regas (NR), a joint venture between state oil and gas company PT Pertamina and gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN).

It was not clear whether the FSRU has been deployed on location or not during the pipeline hydrotesting.

Director NR Ari Adji declined to comment about the matter when asked by Petromindo.com. "We could not make any comment yet," he said.

Evita H. Legowo, Director General for Oil and Gas at the Energy and Mineral Ministry, said that she has not heard about the problem. "I will check."

Hendra Jaya, President Director Nusantara Regas, told Petromindo.com that he could not explain on technical aspect of the FSRU project. He is still hopefull though that the FSRU will still commence operation in early April this year.
