India's hydropower company Teesta Urja Ltd plans to build a mine-mouth power plant and is also looking for coal mining concessions in Indonesia.

Director General of Electricity and Energy Utilization at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources J. Purwono said that the Indian firm had met him to know more about the country's power plant regulation. ?They are interested to invest in Kalimantan (the Indonesian part of Borneo) or Sumatra,? he said.

Purwono said he had told the Indian firm that under the existing regulations, it could build a power plant with a maximum capacity of 100 MW in Kalimantan and a maximum capacity of 200 MW in Sumatra.

?They will meet Simon Sembiring (Director General of Mineral, Coal and Geothermal Resources at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources) to discuss about coal mining concession,? Purwono said. (Bernard)
