PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk  (IDX: TLKM) is accelerating the expansion of its Batam data center business after the first facility operated by PT Telkom Data Ekosistem (NeutraDC) secured commitments for its entire capacity ahead of its planned launch this year.

The strong demand for the first NeutraDC Nxera Batam facility (BTM-1) has prompted the company to begin preparations for a second building, BTM-2, to serve growing demand for data center capacity in the Singapore, Johor and Riau Islands (SIJORI) region.

Among the customers that have secured capacity at BTM-1 is Gorilla Technology, a London based provider of artificial intelligence, security and data analytics solutions. The company will use the facility to support AI infrastructure and digital service development across Asia.

Telkom Strategic Business Development and Portfolio Director Seno Soemadji said the strong demand validates Telkom's strategy to strengthen its digital infrastructure business and reinforces Batam's role as a key regional digital gateway.

The Batam project forms part of NeutraDC Nxera Batam's planned 100 megawatt data center development, aimed at supporting growing demand for AI, cloud computing and digital services in Southeast Asia.
