Tenaga eyes RI power plants

Malaysia's dominant power company Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) will develop and implement two power projects in Indonesia, national news agency Bernama reported late Friday.
Tenaga's wholly-owned subsidiary TNB Engineering & Consultancy Sdn Bhd has signed two agreements with Indonesian companies for the projects.
The definitive agreements will be finalized within six months and TNB will proceed to raise financial for the projects. The report didn't give the project cost.
The first agreement is with PT PLN Pembangkitan Tenaga Listrik Jawa Bali 1 and PT PLN to develop and implement two 60MW capacity steam power plants in Tanjung Karang, in South Sumatra.
The second agreement was with PT PLN Pembangkitan Tenaga Listrik Jawa Bali 2 and PT PLN to develop another two 60MW capacity steam power plant in Minahasa, in North Sulawesi.
All four 60MW power plants will be relocated from Malaysia to Indonesia. The plants, now located in Port Dickson, in Malaysia, are being decommissioned to make way for the development of the Tuanku Jaafar Power Station.
Under the agreement, TNB will set up two subsidiaries in Indonesia to develop the projects. (*)
