PLTU Tenayan Raya, which is currently under construction in Pekanbaru, Riau will need a coal supply of at least 850,000 tons a year.
Helmi Najamuddin, the head of coal division of state electricity company PLN, said that the company had not yet secured the contract for the coal supply for the power plant which would have capacity of 2 x 100 megawatt.
?No contract has so far been signed for the coal supply,? he told Petromindo.com.
The construction of PLTU Tenayan Raya has been 35 percent complete. The construction is handled by a consortium of PT Rekayasa Industri and Hubei Hongyuan Power Engineering Co Ltd of China. ?We hope the power plant will be able to begin commercial operation in early 2015 to provide power supply for northern and central parts of Sumatra,? he said.
