Tender for mini LNG facilities to held this year: PLN

Tender for the construction of a number of mini LNG facilities is expected to be held this year after state-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) and state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina (Persero) have reached the so-called shareholder agreement (SHA), according to

According to PLN?s plan, the construction of the mini LNG facilities would be started in early 2012. ?The construction work will take about 1.5-2 years so that it (the facilities) are expected to be already in operation in 2014,? M. Suryadi, PLN?s Senior Manager of Oil & Gas Procurement said on Monday.

PLN plans to build a number of mini LNG facilities in Bali, South Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, and Halmahera, respectively with capacity of 50 bbtud, 25 mmscfd (equal to about 25.13 bbtud), 50 mmscfd (equal to 50.26 bbtud), and 50 mmbtu.

The tender for the facilities will held at the same time.

A number of companies have expressed interest to participate in the tender including Linde, Sargent & Lundy, Daewoo Engineering Corp, and companies from Norway and Japan.

Suryadi said that the LNG would be mostly used as source of fuel for PLN?s power plants during peak period. Pertamina is expected to hold a majority stake in the LNG facilities. (giok)
