The tender process of three coal-fired power projects including Labuhan power plant, Indramayu power plant and Tanjung Awar Awar power plant will continue as scheduled, president director of state-owned electricity company PT PLN Eddie Widiono has said.

Eddie said that that PLN did not have any plan to retender them because the existing bidders had indicated their strong commitment to provide financial guarantee to finance the projects.

"We will still give them a chance because they have given certainty that they would be able to secure the funding for the projects," he said.

Jusuf Kalla urged PLN Monday to retender the three projects because the existing bidders lacked financial backing to finance the projects.

Consortium China National Machinery Industry Corp - Sinomach - PT Penta Adi Samudra was the only consortium left in tender for Tanjung Awar Awar power plant, Indramayu power plant and consortium Chengda Engineering Corp -Truba Jurong Engineering were the potential winners to build Labuhan power plant.

PLN expected to sign contracts with the winners of the Labuhan, Tanjung Awar-Awar and Indramayu projects in February this year. (Godang)
