TEPI completes Bekapai Phase 2B project

Total E&P Indonesie (TEPI), a subsidiary of French firm Total SA, announced on Tuesday that it has completed the last modification work on BL platform in Bekapai field with zero incidents.

This has put the Bekapai Phase 2B project to its final milestone. In addition to safety achievement, the project has been finalized on budget and schedule with excellent quality outcome.

Bekapai Phase 2B is TEPI?s newest project situated at Bekapai and Peciko fields. Both oil and gas fields are part of Mahakam PSC operated by TEPI with a 50% participating interest and Japanese firm INPEX as partner.

The project has two packages: subsea pipeline package consisting 12? diameter 12.6 km pipeline from Bekapai BA platform to Peciko SWP-K platform that was put on service on July 25, 2015 earlier than schedule; and platform modification package, which was completed on Sept. 13, 2015 involving Multiwell Bekapai Platforms (MWP) of BA, BP, BG, BL in Bekapai and ?SWP-K in Peciko. The whole project has been executed in safely manner with zero Lost Time of Injury (LTI) and more than 1.5 millions of manhours, thanks to the excellent performance and cooperation from all team members.

This brown field project was completed with aggressive and dynamic work schedule on the 35-year old production facilities. It involved 570 workers at its peak, 25 marine vessels, all Indonesian-flagged, for 222 days of offshore campaign, approximately 400 tons of modification works, 205 tie-in points, 27 offshore complex liftings, and was executed on live platforms in 11 simultaneous operations (SIMOPS). In addition, all fabrication works were done locally in East Kalimantan.

The project will raise the Bekapai?s gas production to 92 mmscfd while maintaining the oil production at above 10,000 bopd. This milestone will contribute significantly to TEPI?s yearly target production close to 1,7 Bscfd for gas and more than 65 kbopd liquid (oil and condensate).
