TEPI says Bekapai Phase 2B project uneconomical without Mahakam contract extension

Total E&P Indonesie (TEPI) considered the Bekapai Phase 2B project to be not economical to proceed if the government does not extend the company?s existing contract over the gas-rich Mahakam block in East Kalimantan which will expire in 2017.
Head of Media Relations at TEPI, Kristanto Hartadi told Petromindo.com Tuesday that production at the Bekapai Phase 2B project will start after 2017.
?The Bekapai Phase 2B is part of the Mahakam block project considered to be not economical if there is no contract extension after 2017 because production will occur after 2017,? he said.
He added that the scope of work at the Bekapai Phase 2B project includes development of eight new wells, extension of one platform, and a new sealine.
