Hiroshima-based Teraoka Shoji Inc. is now delivering a new 60,000-DWT Floating Storage Terminal (FST) with a transfer capacity of 6,000-ton-per-hour, named "KFT-2", to be operated in Kalimantan waters.
?The vessel (KFT-2) sailed out on her maiden trip from our Dalian shipyard on Tuesday and she should arrive in Indonesian waters later this month? Teraoka?s consultant Jacques Panis said in an email to Petromindo.Com on Friday.
Bayan Resources Tbk earlier said that "KFT-2" would cater for the future increase of coal output from the Tabang / Pakar concessions.
According to Panis, "KFT-2" has an overall length of 192 m. Two coal barges can be moored alongside to be discharged simultaneously using four pedestal cranes to transfer coal to conveyors networks.
"KFT-2" floating stockpile has a coal capacity of 60,000 tons in a large hold built above deck. Coal is discharged by gravity, using conveyors belts operating underneath hold.
Up-Loading to bulk carrier vessel is performed by two traveling ship-loaders. The spreaders (patented) travel along "KFT-2", above bulk carrier deck to reach any vessel's hatch.
?Any type of Bulk Carrier (except VLBC) can be loaded and all hatches are reached without shifting vessels,? Panis added.
Teraoka is a major ship-builder for the offshore bulk logistics industry. The company has delivered 16 coal trans-loaders to Indonesia since 2003.
