TEXT - Joint declaration between the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources of RI and British Trade International concerning cooperation in oil & gas

The Department of Energy and Mineral Resources of Republic of Indonesia (MEMR) and British Trade International (BTI) attach great importance to the development of their oil and gas sectors and wish to strengthen the cooperation between the Republic of Indonesia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the field of oil and gas to serve the bilateral interest of their nations.

A Memorandum of Understanding will shortly be signed between the Parties to formalize the objective in promoting and implementing scientific and technical cooperation in the oil and gas sectors for the mutual benefit of both Parties.

More specifically the Parties will take appropriate measures to:

(1) Encourage and facilitate British investment in Indonesia oil and gas projects.

(2) Facilitate collaboration between Indonesia and British Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs') in the field of oil and gas.

(3) Seek ways to enhance performance in the Indonesian oil and gas sector.

The Parties will seek to enhance performance in the Indonesian oil and gas sector through collaboration between the Parties's Government and Private sectors.

Collaboration between Indonesian and British Small size Enterprises will be develop with particular reference to experience gained in successfully developing the British oil and gas supplies and services sectors.

The parties will cooperate to facilitate trade and investment and will establish principle and guideline to the followed in a future projects agreement.

A joint Indonesian British Oil and Gas Working Group will be established to support and implement the cooperation between the Parties.
