PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR), the operator of the Rokan Block in Riau and one of Indonesia’s largest crude oil producers, said its operations were affected by a disruption in gas supply following a pipeline incident involving PT Transportasi Gas Indonesia (TGI).
In a statement issued on Sunday, PHR confirmed that a gas supply disruption occurred after a leak on the Grissik–Duri (GD) gas pipeline at KP 222 in Batu Ampar Village, Kemuning District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau, on Friday, January 2, at around 16:35 WIB.
According to PHR Corporate Secretary Eviyanti Rofraida, the gas supplied through the GD pipeline is used to support PHR’s operations, including power generation for oil wells and other operational facilities, as well as steam generation for operations at the Duri Field.

PHR said it is coordinating with TGI to monitor progress on pipeline repairs and has prepared mitigation measures to minimize the impact on upstream oil and gas production. The company stated that, following operational adjustments, PHR’s activities are continuing normally.
The pipeline incident triggered an explosion and fire in Indragiri Hilir, injuring several people and damaging nearby vehicles and buildings, according to reports from local authorities. The gas pipeline, owned and operated by TGI, runs along the strategic Grissik–Duri route, which supplies gas to multiple industrial users, including upstream oil and gas operations in Riau.
TGI has stated that the fire was extinguished on Saturday morning, January 3, after nearby section valves were closed, and that repair work on the damaged pipeline segment is ongoing. The company has indicated that restoration efforts are expected to take several days while gas pressure and network conditions continue to be monitored.
