Thai firm eyeing N. Sumatra coal-fired power plant project

Thai firm Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Public Company Limited announced Thursday that it has signed an MoU with IDX-listed firm PT Truba Alam Manunggal Engineering Tbk. to make an investment study for the 270-MW coal-fired power plant project in Kuala Tanjung, North Sumatera.
The commercial operation date is expected in 2010 and the project cost is approximately US$ 274.3 million, the company said in statement.
?The company entered into the MoU with the objective to conduct the due diligence of the project prior to making decision in the investment. In case of feasible result the company expected investment proportion is 40 percent,? it said.
On May 2007, Truba through its Singaporean unit Tame Turnkey Contracting Pte. Ltd signed EPC contract with PT Ranya Energy for the development of the Kuala Tanjung power plant. (denny)
