Thai power producer Gheco-One Ltd, a subsidiary of the SET-listed power producer Glow Group, has secured 1MTPA coal supply from East Kalimantan coal miner PT. Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) and South Kalimantan miner PT.Adaro Indonesia for its proposed 660-MW power plant in Thailand.
Thai media reported that Gheco has signed a 25-year power purchasing agreement (PPA) this week with the country's sole power distributor, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT).
Gheco-One is 65% owned by Glow with the rest held by the industrial property developer Hemaraj Land. Executives said the plant located in Mab Ta Phut was scheduled to start construction immediately after the project's design is finished. It has awarded the construction contract to Korea-based Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction.
Company director Anut Chatikavanij said the project would be ready to link with the national power grid in November 2010 under the PPA. (*)
