Thai firm seeks to expand renewable business

Thai renewable energy BCPG Plc is seeking to expand renewable business in Indonesia and The Philippines following acquisition of assets in the two countries, The Bangkok Post reported quoting President and CEO Bundit Supianchai.

In April this year BCPG signed deal to invest in Indonesia through equity acquisition in Star Energy Group Holdings Pte. Ltd, which controls geothermal power plant and steam with total power production capacity of 995MW.

Through the investment BCPG will hold indirect 20% stake in 347 MW Wayang windu power plant, 17.3% in 377MW Salak power plant and 17.3% in 271MW Darajat paower plant, all are located in East Java.

The deal is expected to be sealed in the second quarter of this year. BCPG plans to invest US$357.5 million in the projects.

Earlier in March BCPG has also acquired a wind farm in The Phillipines.(*)
