Thai investors visit East Kalimantan

A group of Thai investors was scheduled to hold talks with East Kalimantan provincial governor Suwarna Abdul Fatah on Monday about the possibility for them to do business in the mining sector and other fields in the province, local daily Kaltim Post reported on Monday.

?We see that East Kalimantan has abundant natural resources,? Thai ambassador to Indonesia Chaiyong Satjipanon said in Samarinda on Saturday. He headed the Thai group of entrepreneurs to visit the province.

The Thai delegation met with officials of the East Kalimantan chapter of Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Trade (Kadin).

Meanwhile, East Kalimantan?s Kadin executive director Amir P. Ali said the Thai investors were exploring the possibility of developing coal shipment ports in the coal-rich province. (*)
