Thai Lanna establishes Indonesian coal mining services unit

Thai coal miner Lanna Resources Plc announced Thursday it had established an Indonesian subsidiary namely PT Lanna Mining Services (LMS) in an effort to expand its coal business in the country.

LMS will engage in investment and general mining services in coal production and distribution, Lanna said in a statement to The Stock Exchange of Thailand.

At present, Lanna is operating two coal mines in East Kalimantan via two subsidiaries ? PT Lanna Harita Indonesia (LHI) and PT Citra Harita Mineral. LHI produced approximately 1.66 million tons of coal last year.

Lanna has recently purchased a 55 percent shares in PT Singlurus Pratama, a company that holds a coal mining concession in the Kutai Pasir and Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. (Robert)
