Thai?s Banpu Indonesian coal mining operations update

London-based consulting engineers Steffen, Robertson & Kirsten (UK) Ltd.?s (SRK) recent review of Banpu?s reserves showed 92 percent in Kalimantan, of which one-third in Trubaindo.

INDOMINCO
Indominco is Banpu?s largest mining operation

Indominco represents about 25 percent of Banpu?s coal reserves:
- Premium (6,700 Kcal/kg; S 0.8%)*
- MCV (6,500 Kcal/kg; S 0.5%)
JORONG
Jorong is Banpu?s greenfield mine that came on-stream in 1998

Low-cost open-pit mine (Banpu greenfield, on-stream 1998):
- J-1 (5,300 Kcal/kg; S 0.3%)
- J-2 (5,600 Kcal/kg; S 0.8%)
KITADIN
Kitadin has around half of all Banpu?s additional coal ?resources? and so may provide future growth

Kitadin constitutes 18 percent of Banpu?s reserves:
TRUBAINDO PROJECT
The Trubaindo project has reserves of over 50 million tonnes and will commence operation by end of 2004:

- bidding of construction of production facilities almost complete
- mine plan completed
- good pre-marketing feedback
- strong local government and community support
- project financing underway
