The energy and mineral resources ministry will soon tender the geothermal working are (WKP) Danau Ranau in March 2012.
The ministry said in Jakarta on Monday that the Danau Ranau WKP, which was approved by the ministry in April 21, 2011, has a potential reserve of 210 Megawatt (MW). It is located in Ogan Komering Ulu regency, South Sumatra, and Lampung Barat regency in Lampung province.
Due to its location on the border between the two provinces, then based on prevailing regulations - namely article 20 verses 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 of the government regulation No.59/2007 on geothermal business - it is the authority of the ministry to conduct the tender.
The ministry has also approved other four WKPs, namely WKP Bonjol with potential reserve of 200 Megawatt (MW), WKP Mataloko in East Nusa Tenggara Timur with potential reserve of 63 MW, WKP Gunung Ciremai with potential reserve of 150 MW, and WKP Gunung Endut with potential reserve of 80 MW.
It was reported earlier that the local administration of West Java province had conducted a tender for WKP Gunung Ciremai in October 2011, and it is still proceeding now.
