The price of diesel oil for industries may rise by 20 percent: Purnomo

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro has said that the price of diesel oil for industrial use may be increased by about 20 percent to Rp 2,000 and Rp 2,500 per liter as part of the government’s new fuel price policy, Investor Daily reported on Friday.

Speaking in an interview, with the newspaper, the minister said that the increase that would be made on the diesel oil might be the highest compared to other fuel products such as premium gasoline, kerosene and automotive diesel oil.

Purnomo said that the increase in the price of diesel oil is less sensitive than other fuel products such as Premium and kerosene or automotive diesel oil. The minister however said that the government has not yet decided when the new prices of the fuel products would be announced.

“The decision to increase the prices of fuel products is a politicaly sensitive issue. So, it will take time to decide when the new prices will begin effective,” he said. (*)
