TNI's lawyers sent the legal notification this week following objections from their client for a report in the Post about TNI's involvement in an ambush in Freeport Indonesia's compound in Timika, Papua, which claimed three lives including two Americans.
"We are ready to face the legal move as long as TNI keeps press freedom,"lawyer Todung Mulya Lubis, who represents the Post, said on Sunday.
He said that the legal notification sent by TNI's lawyers indicated that TNI likely open a dialogue with his client.
Military Chief Gen. Endriartono Sutarto announced this week to sue the Post due to its report about TNI's involvement in the Timika attack in August.
The Post cited intelligence reports from the U.S. and the Australia government. Endriartono claimed that representatives from both countries had denied the report.(*)
