Thiess allocates $120 million for investments in 2003

Australian mining contractor PT Thiess Contractors Indonesia (TCI) has allocated US$120 million for new investments in 2003, company executive director Samel Rumende said on Monday as reported by Bisnis Indonesia daily.
Samel said that the fund allocation was to anticipate new oil and coal tenders in several regions like oil tenders in Papua and Sumatra, and coal tenders in South Kalimantan and East Kalimantan.
?With $120-million investment, the company could absorb 2,000 workers,? Samel said in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan.
PT TCI, Indonesia?s largest mining contractor, has been in operation in Indonesia since 1972.
Currently, it operates in different regions like Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara, Sumatra and Papua. (*)
