Some 400 employees of PT Thiess Contractor Indonesia, the contractor of East Kalimantan coal mining giant PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), will hold a strike on Tuesday if the company declines to make payment for extra working hours, according to an executive of Thiess labor union, Hamka.

Hamka was quoted by the local Kaltim Post daily as saying that the strike would continue until their demand had been fulfilled.

The strike by Thiess?s employees will affect KPC?s coal production.

The local East Kutai office of the ministry of labor affairs has ruled Thiess to pay compensation for the extra working hours spent by the employees.(*)
