Thiess to contest Minister?s decision

PT Thiess Contractors Indonesia (TCI), the sub contractor of coal mining firm PT Kideco Jaya Agung in East Kalimantan, is currently initiating action in response to the decision of the Minister of Manpower and Transmigration to cancel a decision made by the Committee for Labor Dispute Settlement (P4), the company said in a statement.

?We are disappointed by the decision of the Minister to overturn the earlier ruling by the P4. This decision has not been supported by a detailed ruling hence we are uncertain on what grounds it was made. We will, however, contest the Minister?s decision and continue to follow due legal process to see this matter through to its conclusion,? TCI director Samuel Rumende said.

Reports earlier said that Minister Yaco Nuwa Wea has annulled the decision of P4 to approve the dismissal of some 171 TCI mining workers.(Amoros)
