Thousands of PT Tripatra workers continued on Friday their massive strike demanding a better salary and benefit package, Riau Post reported.
Tripatra official Heru Handoko was quoted by the paper as saying that the workers break their promise made during a talk with the local House of Representatives to start work on Friday.
Heru said that the company had agreed to reemploy a group of workers who had been absent from work, and the payment of their salary.
But Heru said that the company could not fulfill the other demand for higher salary package because it has yet to be decided by the local office of the Ministry of Labor Affairs.
He said that the both the company and the ministry needed more time to decide on this.
But Heru stressed that the workers must work again because the company still hold its principle of "no work no pay." (*)
