Three candidates have passed a fit and proper test to compete for chairman of the Aceh Oil and Gas Development Agency (or BPMA), according to a senior government official.

Director for Upstream Development at the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Djoko Siswanto told Petromindo.com Thursday that three candidates are Zulkifli Abubakar, Marzuki Daham and Lukman Umar. He did not provide further details.

The BPMA was set up recently following the signing by President Joko Widodo in December of last year a special regulation governing the development of oil and gas in the autonomy territory of Aceh. The BPMA will take over the upstream regulatory role of SKK Migas specifically for oil and gas blocks in Aceh, both onshore and offshore located between 0 and 12 sea miles from the shoreline.
