Three of the four consortiums participating in the tender for the development of the 1,600 MW PLTGU Jawa-1 combined-cycle power plant project have passed the technical and administration criteria selection process, according to a source.

The source told Petromindo.com that the three consortiums include consortium of Mitsubishi, Jera Power Corp, PT Rukun Raharja, and PT Pembangkit Jawa Bali; consortium of PT Pertamina, Marubeni and Sojitz; and consortium of Sembcorp Utilities, and PT Adaro Energy Tbk.

Another consortium, which comprises of PT Medco Power Generation Indonesia, PT Medco Power Indonesia, Nebras Power, and Kepco failed to proceed to the next bidding stage.

President Director of state-owned electricity firm PT PLN Sofyan Basir said recently that he preferred Japanese consortium to help ensure ?balance? as many power plant projects in Java have been previously won by Chinese companies.
