Three killed in Pertamina?s pipeline explosion

Three people were killed and four injured after oil and gas firm Pertamina?s fuel pipeline in Batang village, Mandalawangi sub-district, Sukasari district, Subang regecy, West Java, exploded and caught fire early in the morning today (Thursday)

?Three were killed, four were injured from burning,? West Java police?s spokesman Senior Commissioner Martinus Sitompul was quoted by Liputan6.com as saying.

They are all people living near the incident location. They did not have to time to escape because the explosion happened suddenly.

The pipeline exploded at 5.30 am but Pertamina was able to put off the fire at 8.55 am. Pertamina suspected the incident happened because of illegal tapping as there is a hole under the exploded pipeline and tapping equipment near the location. The pipeline is used by Pertamina to transport diesel oil from the Balongan refinery in Indramayu, West Java to the Plumpung fuel depot in North Jakarta. (*)
