Three major coal-fired power plants currently under construction as part of state-owned electricity company PLN?s 10,000 MW fast-track power program might be offered to private investors and become independent power producers (IPPs).
?We are still seeking for the best solution to cope with their financial problems. If the financial problem could not be settled, we could covert them into independent power producers (IPPs)," PLN?s president director Fahmi Mochtar.
The three coal-fired power plants are PLTU Banten III in Teluk Naga, Banten, the PLTU Jawa Timur III in Tanjung Awar Awar, East Java and the PLTU Jawa Tengah II in Cilacap, Central Java.
The PLTU Banten III also called PLTU Lontar/Teluk Naga is designed with the capacity of 3 x 315 megawatt (MW), while the PLTU Jawa Timur III (PLTU Tanjung Awar Awar) will have a capacity of 2 x 350 MW and the PLTU Jawa Tengah II (PLTU Cilacap) 1 x 600 MW. (bernard)
