Three more coal miners holding the so-called coal mining contracts of work (PKP2B) are set to soon sign contract amendment with the government, Director General of Mineral and Coal R. Sukhyar said Friday.

This makes the number of PKP2B coal miners ready to sign the contract amendment to nine, out of the total 12 PKP2B coal miners targeted by the directorate to conclude the contract revision this month.

The three additional PKP2B coal miners are PT Kartika Sela Bumi Mining, PT Bahari Cakrawala Sebuku, and PT Mandiri Inti Perkasa.

The directorate said earlier this week that six PKP2B coal miners were ready to sign the contract amendment. They include PT Borneo Indobara, PT Gunungbayan Pratama Coal, PT Indexim Coalindo, PT Indominco Mandiri, PT Jurong Barutama Greston and PT Trubaindo Coal Mining (the last three are part of the IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk).

Bisnis Indonesia said that the four remaining PKP2B coal miners which have yet to conclude mining contract renegotiation process are PT Antang Gunung Meratus, PT Marunda Graha Mineral, PT Riau Bara Harum, and PT Barasentosa Lestari.

The directorate?s Coal Chief Bambang Tjahjono said that Barasentosa has objected the divestment obligation, which is one of the main points of contract renegotiation process with the government. (*)
