PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) said that three of its offshore platforms, MXC, MCD and MXHT, in the area of Mike Mike within its concession offshore Cirebon in West Java, were illegally dismantled and demolished by a group of irresponsible people.

The company said in a press statement on Wednesday that its team of security, in cooperation with Cirebon Waters Police, discovered the vandalism of the three offshore platforms, apparently using cutting torch, at 14:42 West Indonesian Time (WIB) on Monday, July 22nd.

?The platforms belong to the state and are operated by PHE ONWJ as contractor of Offshore North West Java block,? it said in the press statement.

PHE ONWJ and the Cirebon Waters Police managed to stop the illegal activities, which were conducted by 33 people, including a supervisor.

Later at 21.05 a vessel which was sent to fetch the people was found and stopped by four police officers and PHE ONWJ personnel when it was docking at MXHT platform. At 21.55 WIB, PHE ONWJ ship arrived at Mike Mike and picked up the 33 people without any resistance. Early morning on Tuesday, they were transferred to the Cirebon Waters Police.

Investigation by the Cirebon police is now underway. PHE ONWJ will continue monitoring the incident.
