State-owned coal miner PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA) said that the state electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has re-tendered three mine-mouth power plants in Sumatra, due to lack of bidders.

PTBA's Corporate Secretary Achmad Sudarto said on Monday night that the three mine-mouth power plant projects, for which PTBA is the only bidder, are Sumsel-8 with capacity of 2x600 MW, Sumsel-6 with capacity of 2 x300 MW in South Sumatra and Pranap power plant in Riau with capacity of 2x300 MW.

Sudarto did not give further information as to when PLN will announce the re-tender of these three projects.

PTBA's President Director, Sukrisno added that in the tender, PTBA is in collaboration with Chinese firm China Huadian to build Sumsel-8 and Sumsel-6; and for Pranap project PTBA is in partnership with India?s firm Lanco Group and Pamapersada Nusantara (Pama), a coal contractor unit of Indonesia-listed heavy-equipment distributor and coal mining firm PT United Tractors Tbk.

In Sumsel-8 and Sumsel-6 projects, PTBA holds 45% and 41% stake, respectively. And for Pranap project, Sukrisno did not give the breakdown figure, but said that the three projects will need around US$3 billion of total investment.

Besides the three mine-mouth power project, PTBA has also submitted bid for the 2x150 MW Madura coal-fired power plants but so far the winner has not yet been announced, he said. (giok)
