Three workers killed at Berau Coal

Three workers were killed at work on Sunday afternoon due to landslide at Berau Coal?s Binungan mine in East Kalimantan, a company official said.

?The three workers that were killed are employees of PT. Bukit Makmur, mining contractor of Berau Coal. The dead bodies were evacuated today,? said Jeffrey Mulyono, Berau Coal?s president director.

Meanwhile, a senior official from the ministry of energy and mineral resources said that mining operations at Binungan are still ongoing.

?We have sent two official from Jakarta to investigate the case,? said Suyartono, a director at the ministry of energy and mineral resources.

Binungan normally produced 250,000 tons to 350,000 tons of coal per month. Berau Coal produced 6.7 million tons of coal last year. (godang)
