Coal mining company PT Thriveni is investing US$ 1.5 million for the project to dredge Tembasi River, Jambi and to develop other infrastructures across the river.
C.Kumaresan, Thrievni's Country Head in Indonesia told Petromindo.com on Monday that the project has been launched by the firm to support the target of doubling coal production from 1.5 million tons in 2013 to 3 million tons by 2014.
"We are expecting to increase production by next year from 1.5 million ton to 3 million tons, and we are going to use river transportation," he said adding the company is also developing a loading facility at Mandiangin aside from the unloading and loading facility at Talang Duku to handle the bigger volume.
He added it has to halt dredging activities dues since the water is too low thanks to seasonal factor.
