Coal mining company PT Thriveni, a subsidiary of Indian mining firm Thriveni Earthmovers, aims to increase production in Jambi next year to 1.8 million tons.
Thriveni, which operates coal concession in Jambi through subsidiary PT Minemex Indonesia, had been only producing about 100,000 tons per month throughout this year except in December, which is expected to reach 150,000 tons, due the weak coal market condition. This means, Minemex output this year is estimated at about 1.25 million tons.
"The coal production for 2017 is targeted for 1.8 million tons subject to market situation," said Minemex Director of Business Development Denial Chandra to Petromindo.com on Wednesday.
Denial said that the company would maximize the use of river transportation. "Our company is the first coal mining company which uses the Tembesi River and Batanghari River for coal transportation in Jambi," he said, adding that the quality of Minemex coal is 3,400 kcal/kg GAR, with low ash and low sulphur.
Elsewhere, Thriveni's Country Manager in Indonesia, C Kumaresan revealed to Petromindo.com that its coal mining operation in Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province, run by PT Tempirai Resources, a joint venture with businessman Jaegopal Hutapea, is expected to increase coal production next year to 3 million tons.
"This JV group is planned for multi business developments in this region," he said, adding that the quality of Tempirai coal is 4,000-3,800 kcal/kg GAR, with low ash and low Sulphur.
