TIA to ramp up coal production, looks for buyers

TIA is majority owned by PT. ABM Investama (ABM), an investment holding company with strategic investments in energy related areas.
Marketing Manager Wulan told Petromindo.Com that production could further be increased to 200,000 tons per month from September 2010, when construction of the new port facility would be completed. ?Our goal is to produce 2.4 million tons of coal in 2011,? she said.
According to her, TIA currently has contracts to supply coal to domestic users and China and in the process of penetrating the Indian market.
Wulan said further that the company is still open to any buyer who is interested for long term contract.
TIA started coal production in August 2009 with total production until the end of November has reached 75,000 tons.
The mine, which is located in Sei Loban, Angsana, Tanah Bumbu regency produces coal with calorific value of 5600 ? 5800 Kcal/Kg (ADB), moisture of 34-36% (ARB), sulphur content of 0.3% (ADB), and ash content of 4-6% (ADB).
Coal produced is hauled through 27.5km road to Sungai Bunati river port, using BBC Port which can service barges of up to 300 feet and barged to Muara Satui anchorage point.
Port facility will be equipped with belt conveyor with capacity of 1,500 tons per hour and crusher 750 MT/Hour, she said.
"And we have started constructing an underpass which will be finished by April 2010," she said.
The company appointed local firm PT Cipta Kridatama (CK) and PT. Cipta Kridatama Bahari (CKB) as its mining contractor and barging operator for transshipment, respectively. CK and CKB are part of PT. ABM Investama. (denny)
