Timah aims to strengthen its coal business

IDX-listed tin miner PT Timah Tbk said it will strengthen its coal business as part of the company?s strategy to diversify its revenue sources.
The company produces around 1 million tons of coal this year from its coal mining concession in South Kalimantan. "We hope to raise our coal production to 1.5-2 million tons next year, "company corporate secretary Abrun Abubakar said
The company also mulls over a plan to acquire coal concessions with reserves of over 50 million tons. Abrun, however, did not provide further details of the company's acquisition plan.
The biggest revenue contributors of PT Timah are tin and tin solder. In the first semester this year, tin and tin solder posted revenues of Rp 4.52 trillion or contributing 93.6 percent of the company?s total revenues for the period of Rp 4.83 trillion.(*)
