Timah dominates tin sales: Report

PT Timah will significantly increase its refined tin sales this year, at the expense of other Indonesian producers, ITRI reported on its website.
The state-controlled company’s sales of refined tin "may exceed'' 50,000 metric tons this year, more than the company's previous forecast of 48,000 tons, Corporate Secretary Prasetyo B. Saksono told Bloomberg News on Thursday in a telephone interview from Jakarta.
Its sales in the first quarter of 2007 rose by 51% year-on-year to 14,554 tons. Total refined tin sales in 2006 amounted to 42,613 tons.
Meanwhile Metal Bulletin reported that around 28,100 tons of tin have been shipped out of
Exports from 22 private smelters, excluding PT Timah and Koba Tin, totalled 29,610 tons in the first half of last year, according to data from the Indonesian Tin Industry Association. (*)
